About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young narrator laments the fact that he has been taken from his mother by strangers. He tells us that he was taken from her by strangers, who mistook him for a puppy. The narrator, who does not want to be identified by his real name, says that the strangers are all "too relaxed" and "too sweet" with the puppy. He says that they do not think he is "cute" and that he will "make a dog- kebab outta you" . He also says that humans are "selfish" when it comes to animals, and he will give them some credit for inventing the "chi-kama stufe" , or "the kiss." The young narrator wonders why the strangers do not treat him with the same respect that they treat a child. He wonders if they are "acting all pure 'n sweet with dogs" and if they think that he is a "mangy piece of shit." He says he will make a dog "kettle outta ya" and will "give humans some credit" for inventing "this chi-kama stufe." The narrator then asks who is the "cuuuuutest flail" and who is "the cutest out there." He wonders where the "stereo type" is coming from and wonders if he is being treated like an "infant." He realizes that he almost took all of his followers with him to save the puppy, but he is too selfish to do so.
