In the midst of his soliloquy, Volger is interrupted by the sound of a splash coming from the sea. He realizes that this is the heart of Theodor the Great, and that he is surrounded by it. He wonders if the heart is within the statue, and wonders if it is the holy sword of legend that would destroy a destroy. He is certain that the statue is the symbol of royalty and Kingship, and he wonders if he will ever be able to destroy it.
