Theodor's defeat at the lake spreads, and the surrounding nations rush into alliances and begin launching assaults on the eastern empire. The eastern empire has no choice, however, but to retreat. The western empire, meanwhile, has been trying to turn the tide of the war in the nia, but the identity of the iaras has been ineffective, leading to internal crisis within the western empire.
