It's been a long journey, and the girl is sleeping soundly. She's sleeping soundly despite all the rough conditions. She looks so defenseless. She doesn't look at him, but instead praises him. He's intelligent and agile, she says, and he's neither intelligent nor agile. She tells him not to praise him, even if he still is her, because he'll make her a name for herself one day. He tells her not to worry about what's going on over there, because nothing good will come of it. He says he won't come back because he wants to know what the heck is going on. He knows it's night, and soldiers are standing around in the mountains, waiting for someone to come along and take their stuff. He wants to find out why they're there, but he can't find time to do so
