About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of the battle between the western empire and the saga kingdom. It's inevitable, says the narrator, because of the "bad blood" between the two countries. He tells us that the battle was inevitable because of his side in it. He also tells us about how he's going to destroy the world together with the man he loves. The narrator coughs and says that he has to find the man. He says that they're tied together to a chain, and when they reach the pedestal, they'll have to kill each other in order to escape the snakebites. They're going to drown in the water, the narrator says, and the man will swear that he made the chain long enough so that they won't have to die together. This is absurd, he says.
