About This Chapter
In this short scene, Polonius delivers a soliloquy in which he laments the fact that Polonius has fallen for the trap set for him by the Duke of Castile. He blames himself for all of the harm that has been done to the people of Castile, and he vows to stay by Polonius' side until Polonius wakes up. Polonius says that he had planned to give up his identity and live as his brother, but now that he has lost his beloved, he realizes that he cannot be his brother.
