This chapter opens with the setting of a garden on the outskirts of Cetu. It is the garden of Isabella's mother, who is the daughter of a nameth clan. Her younger brother, Lorenzo, is her uncle. Lorenzo has chased away all of her suitors, and he has tried to keep his mother by his side ever since she was a young girl. She met Isabella at a banquet, and they ended up together. Lorenzo's uncle has been trying to kill him ever since, but Isabella has been standing up for him.
