This chapter opens with a flashback to the battle of the previous chapter, in which the "eight - legs" of the white snake defeated the "black fox" of King Lear's army. The white snake is now the leader of the army, and he tells his brother that he must leave the castle immediately because the place is in danger of collapsing.
