In this chapter, the two students discuss their recent encounters with the "black fox" and the "lipsqueak" . The two students are both "upstanding students" with "clean records" , but the black fox has "been caught with the special smell" of the other's body, and the lipsqueak has been "caught with the puff puff" of theirs. The black fox tells the students that their bodies are "infinitely more powerful" in half-demon form than in full-human form, and that the only way to defeat them is to escape to the "building where there are puffs puff puff yank." The students discuss the possibility that the "plink" who disrupted their nap was a black fox. The students then discuss the classmate they used to be in the same class, who is now in grade one, but who has been held back because he has slept too much in class.
