In this chapter, we learn that Prince Hal's father, the patriarch, is dead. He is buried in a tomb, and his body is slowly rotting away. Prince Hal tells his father that he is going to kill him. He tells the patriarch that he will kill him if he does not kill Prince Hal. The patriarch tells Prince Hal that his father is dead, and Prince Hal says that he wishes he were dead so that he and his father would not have to die together. He asks the patriarch if he would like Prince Hal to be his son, and he says he would, but Prince Hal will not allow him to. He says that if Prince Hal does not die, then Prince Hal should not be killed. He adds that he would rather die than have Prince Hal be transformed into his son.
