In this chapter, Caius discusses his desire to awaken his blood power with baize. He tells Caius to put his life on the line in order to use his power. Caius tells him that he is afraid that Caius will find out that he has the power core, and so he asks him to go back to the front lines. When Caius asks where he wants to go, he tells him to tell him his condition. He says that he does not want to be a part of the night-souls, but is a leader of the Quyanse guild
