This chapter opens with the blacksmith lamenting the fact that his shop has been ruined by the recent earthquake in the town of Green Lake. He has been forced to leave Green Lake, even if he does not want to, because he has worked so hard to set up the shop. He tells the blacksmith that he will always be with him no matter what he does. The blacksmith says that he knows what to do, and that if he has made up his mind, he will be by his side.
