This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between a snake and a snakebite. The snakebite tells the snakebite that he's out of the "sacred realm" , and that he disobeyed his master's order to let the people go. The two of them argue about whether or not it's proper for a man to disobey his master. It's clear that they're not on the same level as the rest of the world, and they don't seem to have much of an understanding of each other.
