In this chapter, we learn that Medusa's land is ahead of them, and that the bones are those of people who have failed to transform into magical humans. Medusa tells the dog that he will leave him one of the lucky dogs to spread his fame, and the dog is overjoyed at the news. He is afraid that if they go deeper into the snake nest, they will be more vulnerable to the poison, and so he orders the dog to splash in the water.
