The chapter opens with Lingzhizhao's exclamation that he has found the entrance to the tomb. He is afraid of the darkness, but he is able to find the entrance because he is a master of the art of feng shui. He tells Lingzhao that he is more like a superior and subordinate person than a lover. He asks her why she seems to be in love with him, and she replies that she is still a virgin. She tells him that she does like him, but she cannot explain why neither of them thinks they are good together. She says that she has never been in love, and that people only believe what they are willing to believe. She asks if she is worried that if she does not go up there, he will not come to rescue her, and he says that he will come to her rescue if something serious lures away the guards from the tomb
