The next morning, Bal writes a letter to the princess. He tells her that he has found all the pieces of the treasure map, and that he hopes to show her the map after he is sure that it is authentic. Bal says that he learned this from a "geomancer" when he was a kid, and he wonders if the map is a forgery. The princess asks him if this is the case, and Bal says he has checked every piece of the map except the one he gave her. Bal is sorry that he didn't find any useful information, but maybe it is because he is not an expert. Bal asks the princess if she has any new information, and the princess says that she is making up "piles of lies" to delay Bal's search for the map. Bal thinks that if he finds out that the map was a forgery, he might kill the princess, and she might become queen of the country.
