The next morning, Fangru wakes up in the middle of the night to find that the imperial army has arrived. He's worried that the pregnant woman isn't doing well, but he's also worried about the baby, which has just been born. Fangru tells the emperor that the baby is healthy and that the mother and child are doing well. The emperor tells Fangru to go back to the house and check on the baby. He says that the family is coming back, and that they're going to try to kill the baby unless the woman is taken away. He then tells the woman to shake her head and not worry, because the baby's healthy. He also tells her to write down everything that happened to her on the paper. He tells her that he used to be courtesan and that he finally got freedom when he met Linyuan. Linyuan is loyal to his wife, so he'll do anything for her.
