Linyuan asks how he would react if he were to follow the prince back to his mistress's house and protect her from an assassin. Linyuan tries to find out what he should do, but he is interrupted by the sound of someone running away. He realizes that the assassin is already there and flees to another part of the house. He asks the servants to come and help him, but they refuse to do so. He tells them that he has been framed by his mistress and that she has asked her slave to expose him so that she can keep the affair a secret. He says that the biggest mistake he has ever made in his life is to allow himself to live until he is troubled by others. He is willing to prove his innocence with his death. He wants to send Linyuan's mistress to the interrogation hall and have her confessed to the murder of the mistress.
