In this chapter, we learn that Linyuan has a sister, a princess, who was adopted by the Empress Dowager when she was living in the palace. Linyuan is very loyal to the emperor, and he has been fond of her ever since. The princess, however, is not as beautiful as the emperor's sister, and Linyuan wonders why the emperor has so much affection for her. He wonders if she has grudges against Linyuan, or if the emperor just lost his mind and wants to repay her for what she has done for him. The ambassador tells the princess that if she wants to see the emperor alone, she should come with him.
