The chapter opens with a discussion of the relationship between Ming and Tran. Tran asks Tran if he thinks things are going well between the two of them. Tran replies that they've been together for a while, but that he's noticed that Ming seems happier and happier after Tran kisses him. Tran tells Tran that he knows a great place to go to celebrate the opening of a new mall at the South End of the Commercial Street, where a fireworks show will be held. Tran says he'll send a message to Ming and ask him to come and see the fireworks show. Tran thinks this is a great idea, since it's Tran's first date after he told everyone that he was in a relationship. Tran suggests that they go to the mall and have a good time. He then asks Tran to surprise Ming and tell him that he loves him during the show.
