In this chapter, we learn that Ming-Ling's wife, Ming-Guang, has her own room in Ming's house, and that Ming is taking care of her after Ming leaves for a visit with his father in China. Ming asks if he can borrow some of his father's bottles of beer, and Ming says he will, but that he'll have to talk to Ming about personal safety after he's sober. Ming says that his mother is at home, and she'll take care of Ming after he leaves for China
