About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that she has told her parents that she and her boyfriend are not in a relationship and that she will not do anything that only lovers can do. She says that she feels that he is serious about her and wants to be with her forever. She tells him that the girl who is pregnant in class has not gone to the orphanage yet and that her parents are not concerned about her health. The narrator asks her grandmother if she would like some spicy food and she says yes. She then tells her grandmother that she wants to serve her boyfriend more food and that if he does not have enough food to eat, he can just speak out. The grandmother tells the narrator that her own grandmother had never served her the dishes and that the family is not very lively here. She asks the narrator not to get her wrong and to enjoy the meal.
