The next morning, the Governess wakes up to find that her husband has been out of the office for two days. The Governess tells her husband that she's glad he's gone because she'd like to know what's going on between them. She tells him that she likes him better than he likes her. He tells her that he used to cry when his girlfriend left him, but now he doesn't expect love in return. She says that if he also loves her, he'll feel powerless. She's been crying since she was a kid, she says, and if she can fix it, she'll come back.
