About This Chapter
In the second round of the tournament, the ref calls a halt to the fight when the opponent tries to lock his neck with a knee. This is not a good idea, says the meguru, because he can't use his opponent's neck and elbow as leverage against them. Instead, he uses clinches, which he describes as a "body blow" that will "stop your op-ponent" . In other words, when you're sparring with a guy, you'll lose when he tries to use his strength against you. So, he says, you need to throw a blow from a position that will stop the opponent and then throw him off balance again. He says this is the kind of fighting he wanted to be, and that's how he ended up losing the fight. The ref stops the fight, and says that the winner has been declared by the ref. The meguru says that he's glad that the ref stopped the fight because he has a lot of room to get revenge on Geric.
