Chapter 3 opens with a flashback to 35 years ago, when the monster first appeared on the continent of magmell. The monster's master, Mr. Inyo, is in the middle of a conversation with his younger brother, who has been conducting an expedition on the same continent. The elder Inyo tells the younger Inyo that his brother's expedition has received a death signal from a local explorer organization, which is a sign that an explorer is dead. The younger inyo tells his master that the local explorer's organization has refused to offer any kind of medicine for the death of an explorer, and that this means that the young Inyo is doubting the professional integrity of the expedition team. The two men decide to fly the entire way to Titandike.
