At the meeting of the elders, the magmellians discuss the possibility of an alliance with the future gods. The magmellian leader tells the elders that he has already agreed to the alliance, but that he will always reject it unless he is dead. He asks the elders what they think of the lacht, or "the will" of magmell, that materialized from the ancestors. He says that with only a small fraction of humanity, the future god can compete with the past god. He then asks if the last emperor has anything to do with the alliance. The leader says that he does not think that the previous emperor has any part to play in the matter. He also says that if the alliance is approved, he will make a "square lacht" , or affirmative vote, as long as there is no mention of the past emperor's betrayal. He adds that the betrayal of uka 150 years ago was not a part of the matter, and he will never trust the elders again. The elder inyo tells him to fetch him something to drink and kill the elders.
