In this chapter, we learn that humans have the ability to defeat a number of different types of creatures. Low-risk types are easily defeated by small groups of humans, medium risk types can easily be defeated by large groups of people, and high risk types are completely defeated by armies of the best fighters. The group is eager to see the true form of Madame de Guiche, and they want to know if they can get weapons from her. There are only three weapons left, and the only way to get them is to go to the outer zones of the fortress and ask for them. The men decide to go anyway, but there are too many people to go with them.
