The witch girl's father tells her that the elves are not strong enough to fend off the wild beasts that roam the land. They only have one magic user, which means they have to become allies with other races in order to stay alive. The only thing on the mind of the witch girl is joy, and she does not care about her father's humiliation. She simply lives for joy. Her father warns her that such weapons are being used by the aboriginal emperors army to kill her people. He says that they are getting closer to the day when they will be free. The man who is cooking lunch to her says that he is different from the rumors that said he was the strongest of the aboriginals in magmell, and that he does not hate her. He tells her not to worry about being slaughtered or enslaved. The dream of unification seems a bit different, and he says that two powerful races are watching. They are hard to tame, he says, because of the word betrayal.
