In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he doesn't care how long he can be with Lily, as long as she's with him. He just wants to be with her "like this" . He's going to go to her school's "date course" , which is basically a fancy party for middle- and high-school students. Lily and the narrator go to a crowded restaurant and ice cream shop . The narrator says that he's never been to such a crowded place before. He compares the place to a "tropical fir" and a "normal office lady," and he says that Lily's voice "melts me more than any song." The narrator goes on to say that the place is "more fantastic" than any amusement park. He says that this is the "last basic date spot" he'll ever go to .
