After gao ji ascends to the throne, he is crowned Empress of the Ming People. He also appoints Ming Ju as the tutor of the newly-crowned prince. The emperor does not trust Ming Ju, so he tries to promote his family members. Ming Ju tells the empress that the emperor wanted Ming Ju to marry the Shen family, but Ming Ju's father wanted to see Ming Ju marry the Pei family. The empress tells Ming Ju that she does not think Ming Ju can change after all of these things, and that she will not allow him to marry or have a family of his own. She says that the Ming Ju mansion is in a state of "floral and fiery feast" and that there are two bridal sedans waiting for Ming Ju at the mansion.
