The narrator tells Mizunaka that the glass is made with soda-lime without any lead, but those who provide high-quality goods receive great rewards. The glass is not fake because it has passed down the traditional technique, but because they have to collect the supplies and find the people who can take over the old techniques. Mizuminashi says that he is sorry that the old man's glass is no longer authentic, but that if someone thinks it is fake, they will believe that it is or is not.
