About This Chapter
The narrator and his friend, aika, go to a gondola repair shop to get a spare gondola. They find a treasure map in a boot shop, and the narrator asks aika if she'd like to take him there. She says yes, and they go off to look for a clock tower in a "campo" . The narrator says that he's been living in this town for a year, and that's why he likes to wander around in the "campo." He finds a well in the middle of the campo, and says that if he were hungry, he'd just say "muffin munch munch." The narrator then goes on to say that he and aika have been exploring the streets of Verona. They've found a canal, a fountain, a well, and lots of other interesting things. He says that the more he walks, the more "i fall in love" with this town. He adds that he often walks down this street, but he doesn't remember what he was doing there. He wonders if it's the owner of the gondola who was behind the treasure map.
