The narrator tells us that he's back in San Francisco. He's on his way to the light bell fair, where he'll be able to buy a special light bell that's made of a special material, called aqua. The narrator says that he doesn't know why the bell glows at night, but he does know that it's very rare for it to remain that way. He also says that the owner of the bell won't part with it, so there's no reason why it can't be beautiful at night. He tells us about how he and his friend, the president of the aria company, have been taking a boat out every night to watch the light go out. Now that the light is going out, everyone will gather to watch it go out, too.
