About This Chapter
It's morning, and we're back in the canzone. We're introduced to the narrator, who's a little nervous because he's just seen an undine sing a song in the canal. He's worried that the song will make her nervous, since she's from a company called "orange planet" , and he'd like to talk to her about it. He also wants to know what's going on with his roommate, Athena. At first, he doesn't know what to say, but then he realizes that Athena isn't acting like a normal person, so maybe he can tell her something. He asks her to sneak into his room so he can do some work on his left hand, which is supposed to do all the grunting and grunting for him. At the same time, he wants to make sure that she'll be nice to him, too. He tells her that she looks a lot like Athena, and that's why they're sneaking into her room. A little later, we find out that the two of them are eating lunch at the cafeteria, and the narrator is annoyed because he can't figure out why Athena is so clumsy. He says that his right hand is so good at doing things that it's hard to figure out what her left hand is doing. Athena's clumsy, he says, because her right hand does all the dirty work for her. She's so clumsy, in fact, that the narrator thinks that she has a bruise on her arm from slapping someone. The narrator says that at least he'll have something to sing about when he gets home.
