This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which a group of soldiers is attacked by a "beastman" . The group is led to a medical tent, where they are treated by a doctor. The doctor tells the group that the man who attacked them was a student at a medical school, and that he was the one who administered the drugs that caused the riot
