Now that the Volks have attacked, the company is returning to Soeur. The captain asks why the company has discharged so many men just to find a single officer. He's ashamed that the company's commander thinks of him that way. The deputy commander holds out under fire until the entire company is evacuated. Captain Strong asks the captain to take a nap. He says he's so tired that he can't sleep. He tells the captain that he'll stay up all night to watch the lieutenant. He wants to kill the devil if he sees him.
