Dr. Bledsoe and Dorothea are on their way to dinner when Dorothee interrupts them. She's there to tell them that her husband has been taken to the hospital with a head injury and a swollen shin. She tells them that she's going to stay with them for a few days, and they're going to have to get used to her. Dorothe is impressed by her husband's appearance, and she asks if he's a knight or a doctor. He says he is, and that he'll sleep with her in case he gets caught in the fight.
