About This Chapter
The next morning, the two men discuss the events of the previous day. The lieutenant tells the captain that he has been grumbling all day, and that everyone has been walking around on eggshells. The captain tells the lieutenant to shut up, and to step out of the formation. He tells the men to stay alert, and they do. They fight a fierce battle, and the enemy's armored divisions have rendered their artillery useless. They will rally the remaining troops at a point, and then they'll move on to the 707th. The two men bump into one another again.
