About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a conversation between a lieutenant and a woman. The lieutenant tells the woman that he's going to send her back to the front lines. He's worried that she'll try to push herself too hard, and he wants her to be careful not to get injured. He tells her to pack up her stuff and get ready for the next battle. He says that since the war has been going on for six months, every able-bodied man and woman in his regiment has been ordered to go and fight with allied divisions. This is the first time the lieutenant has seen the woman since the battle. She's injured, he tells her, but he doesn't think it's serious. She begs him not to worry about her, and she says that if she gets injured in battle, then she's fine. She wants to get out of the way of the fighting.
