The narrator compares this to the battle of Takeda vs. Takeshi, a famous battle between two generals in Shingen Takeda. Takeda is said to have taken the lead in the battle, but Ohara is still on his first plate, eating meat that's been cut into small pieces. Ohara seems to be bothered by this, and he's eating two plates instead of one. This means that he has to eat more meat to catch up to Takeda, who is eating four plates at a time.
