The chapter opens with a description of George's last meal. George wraps his salad around his sliced steak, and he's about to eat all of it when he realizes that he has only two bites left. He's so hungry, in fact, that he wraps his scarf around the meat to keep it from eating him. George is so hungry that he can't even eat the whole thing. He can only eat a little bit at a time, and his stomach is full of it. George says that he'll beat George in this fight, and that he won't stop eating until he has eaten all of his meat.
