About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the next step in the mission will be to break the concentration of the U.S. military in Tokyo, the heart of Japan. This will mean the death of the entire population of Tokyo and the destruction of all of Japan's economic and social systems. The next step is to send a message to U. S., asking them to stop the bomb. If they don't, they'll have to start it again. This is the first step, but the second step is even more important. If the bomb doesn't go off, they have to find another way to destroy Tokyo. They'll need to find a way to get to the city of Nagasaki, which has the largest population of any city in the world. They can't do this without breaking the military's concentration in Tokio, the second largest city in Japan. So they're going to have to use a new kind of bomb: the neutron bomb. This bomb will destroy everything in its path, and it's going to be a lot more powerful than the hydrogen bomb. Uh-oh. Okay, so now that the bomb has gone off, we've got to figure out how to stop it. What's the point of having a bomb if you're not going to use it? Well, the answer to that question is pretty simple: if the bomb goes off, there's no point in using it. If it does, then there'll be no point
