About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to the time of the Christmas massacre. It is now December 25th, which is the day of the celebration of the Feast of Trumpets. The narrator explains that he thought that everyone in the world would be celebrating Christmas on that day. He then asks if he has become a suspect in the murder of Owon and his wife. Owon has lost his trust in him, and he wonders if he will be able to prove his innocence in the future. He wonders if it is possible for him to have borrowed a book from a local library on January 7th, but he is unable to do so because he was conducting an in-vitro virus experiment in the Russian city of Vladivostok.
