About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the only way to beat the cat is to use a "computer code" instead of a "psychological code" . In other words, the cat can't be beaten with a pencil or a hammer, but he can beat himself with a stick or a piece of string . The cat says that he's going to use the psychological code to beat himself. He's convinced that the cat's death will be blamed on his mother's chronic illness, not on her death from kidney failure . Oh, and the cat says he doesn't know if his father and grand-uncle are involved in the whole thing. He says he hasn't asked either of them about it, and they don't seem to care. He tells the cat that he has to tell him something, too, because he has been involved in this whole thing for a long time. He asks the cat if there's anyone he likes more than the cat, and if so, why? The cat replies that there aren't any, and then he asks if the cat would like to be allowed to do whatever he wants with the rest of the family. He wants to know if they would still like him to be a member of the household if he lets them do whatever they want with the cats. They're not going to let him do that, he says, and so they're going to have to have an assembly excuse meeting
