The chapter opens with a description of the crime that has just taken place in Shimbashi. The police have named Homakita as the prime suspect in the murder and placed him on the nationalmost wanted list. The brother of the murdered man asks his father what he should do now that he has to do what he was told to do by his father. His father says that he should stop going to the police station because they don't really know what his enemy is. He tells his brother that he doesn't know who the enemy is just to protect him. He also says that the police should buy a new wideband receiver so that they can check on him again. His brother chimes in that it's not the police that he needs to worry about, but the police. He says that if anything happens, he should contact him immediately. He adds that he can't trust the police because they're a kind people, and that he's worried about the possibility of internal problems between the police and the family. He warns his brother not to trust anyone who claims to be an employee of the police, since the police are a kind and kind people.
