The next morning, Lili tries to convince Madame Bovary that she's not crazy about what's going on between her and Don Pedro. She says that Don Pedro is just hanging out with a singer, and that he's in love with another woman. Lili points out that she broke off her relationship with Don Pedro years ago, and she doesn't want to upset him. She tells Lili that if Don Pedro were to propose to her, she'd be all for it.
