In this chapter, we learn that the whole family has been affected by the events of the previous day. We also learn that Mr. and Mrs. Feng have fled to their new residence. Mr. Feng is furious that he has not been able to see his brother and sister. He tells Mr. Ling that he will bear the blame for their disappearance. He also tells him that he is an idol and that he should not go out with him. He says that they will not be able to get along very often because of their different backgrounds. He adds that he wants to become more like him.
