In this chapter, the young narrator is introduced to his new friend, gao ran, the founder of the "Zhang group" . The young narrator tells his friend that he is handsomer and more beautiful than before, and that he hopes to meet gao again soon. He tells her that the theme of her latest fashion show is "rebirth," and that she has chosen a different style of clothing than the sexy one she usually chooses. The narrator also tells the young friend that gao has recently been negotiating with a rival, but that she refuses to reveal the identity of the man. He then tells the story of how he met gao, and how she has influenced his life. He thanks her for giving him "a pair of wings," and sends her to school
