In this chapter, the audience is introduced to a number of characters who have been introduced in the previous chapters. The first of these characters is the director of the dance company. He is a bachelor who has been in love with a woman for a long time. The other characters are twins, one of whom is yellow, the other green. The director tells the audience that the two of them don't really know each other, but that they're afraid of losing each other. He tells them that he's learned a lot from them, and that he thinks they are "true love." He also tells them about a friend of theirs who is a "weirdo" but has "great strength." The director says that he didn't realize that the girl he was courting was going to be the object of his affections. He says that if he had known about it, he would have tried to protect her, but he'd have lost his mind and made trouble for the show crew. He asks the director why he still fights with others, and the director replies that it's because he is miserable. He also says that the director wants him to apologize to him for fighting with Luo, but the director refuses to listen to him. He wants to know why the director is so miserable, and he says that Luo is the only one who's miserable. Luo wants to go back to the competition, but Luo insists that he has to be with the director. The two men argue about whether or not the competition matters, and Luo says he'll go back if the director agrees to go with him.
