In this chapter, the Governess tells the story of the disappearance of Selia and her brother. Selia's older brother, who is studying at the university, has gone to the library to pick up some books for his sister. The Governess is proud of her brother's efforts, but Selia is upset that he has not come to visit her. She asks her to talk to him some more, and the Governesses will take her statement into account. The townspeople and the police did not conduct a search for Selia because the case was considered a missing child.
